About HOW

This program was launched with a question about how could we make the lives of children better, whose parents are working in the unorganized sector; how could we show our appreciation to the police force and security personnel who spend their festivals away from home to keep our families and cities safe. The search for the answers to these questions led in the culmination of Happiness on Wheels program.

The idea behind the motivation for the program lay with bridging the gap between the rich, middle-class, and the poor, and between the civilian and the administration. If this gap is to reduced, then even if a few well-wishers partner with Ekrupay, their generosity will create a ripple effect in spreading happiness and joy.

The Happiness on Wheels (HOW) program has two arms:

• The first arm is specifically for the children living in urban villages & slums where well-wishers celebrate their birthday with them by cutting cake, distributing toys & spending time with them.
• The second arm focuses on the policemen and private security personnel who are manning the city away from their loved ones by taking little time out a from our holidays and by celebrating festivals with them. In doing so, we are able to show our gratitude towards them for keeping our cities safe during festival time.

Goals of the Program:

• Bridge the gap between social classes (rich/middle-class vs. poor/underprivileged)
• Foster connection between civilians and Frontline workers/Families from Urban Slums
